Your kitchen handbook

A little guidance.
A better cake.

Everything you need to stack, frost, pipe, and serve with confidence.

Stack & steer

Layers drop automatically after a short countdown. Tilt gently in the direction you want the layer to move. The steering arrow and dot show your input; the target ring previews the landing.

  1. Bring the landing ring toward the center of the cake.
  2. Level your device to brake as the layer lines up.
  3. When you’re happy with the aim, tap the double arrow to fall faster.

Early drops give you extra time to recover. A missed tier retries. Prefer touch? Slide in the bakery or use the steering compass. Pause → Simple controls lets you turn tilt off. Resuming recalibrates your comfortable holding angle.

Frost & decorate

Once the tiers land, tap a physical tool to open its choices. Choose an icing, smoother, piping color, or topping, then touch the cake to use it.

Subtle dotted guides mark the icing sections. Tap or paint a section to coat it; an upper side section also coats its exposed top shoulder. Later recipes introduce narrower stripes and extra rows. Memory keeps freehand icing and hides the section guides.

Move two fingers together to rotate the cake or change the viewing angle. Pinch apart to zoom in for detail; pinch together to zoom out. After five seconds without interaction, the zoom smoothly returns to its default level. Touch again to interrupt the return. During stacking, zooming in is limited so you can keep the falling tier in view.

Use Top view for an overhead look. Extra toppings stay on your creation, and Undo removes a slip.

Follow the piping ribbon

Choose the piping color shown in the example and trace inside the translucent ribbon. Nearby strokes snap into the pattern, helping you make a clean line.

The allowed ribbon gets narrower as levels progress. Wrong colors and strokes outside the ribbon stay freehand. Lift your finger before moving to another nearby line. Undo removes a whole stroke.

Memory mode hides the guide and keeps piping unassisted. That’s part of the challenge.

A mode for every mood

  • Rush: race the clock as heat softens and melts painted icing. Your one Chill per cake gives 20 seconds of cooling and up to six extra seconds, capped at the original time allowance.
  • Memory: study the order for 12 seconds, or tap Ready to begin sooner. The picture and matching guides then disappear. Peek reveals the order for three seconds, costing eight seconds and 25 points. These are game costs, never purchases.
  • Relaxed: create without a timer or heat.
  • Two-player Bake-off: take turns on one device in a timed challenge. There is no online multiplayer.
  • Today’s Creation: try the untimed daily recipe.
  • Recipe Book: practice recipes and icing styles.

Unlimited levels & playtime

Cake Club has no final level. Recipes are generated dynamically, remixing six bakery themes with flavors, frosting layouts, piping patterns, and topping arrangements. Familiar elements can return in different combinations.

Warm-up starts at level 1, Creative at level 6, and Showstopper at level 18. These are entry points into the same continuing sequence. Clear a solo cake to continue; if you miss the target score, retry it. Difficulty increases gradually and eventually levels off while recipe combinations continue.

Timed recipes begin with roughly 3–4 minutes on the clock, depending on their decorating workload. That is the recipe’s timer, not a guaranteed session length: studying an order, pausing, judging, retries, and another cake can make a visit longer. Relaxed has no timer or heat.

There is no fixed number of hours to finish the game. One purchase includes unlimited progression and all game modes. There are no paid level packs, ads, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.

Serve & compare

When every tier has landed, tap Finish Cake to serve. You don’t need a perfect match or complete frosting coverage. Your actual creation stays on screen during judging. Retry or continue from the results.

Scoring compares the whole cake, including surfaces you cannot currently see. Moving, rotating, or zooming the camera never changes your score. Surface, piping, and topping feedback shows what to work on next.

On the results screen, switch between Your cake and Example to compare them from the same viewing angle. Both can be rotated, viewed from above, and zoomed with two fingers.

Make the controls yours

Kitchen settings has separate music and sound-effect controls, plus optional meme moments, haptics, and celebrations. Cake Club respects your device’s Silent mode.

With a compatible controller, the left stick steers, A speeds up a falling tier, Menu pauses, and Y serves when ready. Use touch or a mouse to select tools and decorate.

If tilt feels off, hold the device comfortably, pause, and resume to recalibrate. You can always turn tilt off and use touch instead.

Your progress & optional scores

Best stars, mastery, and local records stay on your device. Every recipe can be played offline.

Game Center is off by default. Kitchen settings or High scores lets you review the sharing explanation before choosing to enable it. Only eligible solo Rush scores and levels are shared; the other modes remain local.

Turning sharing off clears pending submissions. It does not delete scores already held by Apple. See the Game Center privacy details.

This guide describes version 1.0, build 24. Cake Club is available for iPhone and iPad on the App Store. Older test versions may have different controls.
